Early Life and Education
Born on October 13, 1985, in Kyoto, Japan, to Hiro and Mihoko Shirakawa, Yuuko experienced an introverted and challenging childhood. She frequently faced bullying, which caused her to withdraw from socializing throughout her primary and secondary education. Despite these challenges, she excelled academically, entering the University of Kyoto in 2004. She studied European history with an emphasis on the classical era and minored in mathematics. To fund her education, she worked part-time as a librarian at a private school for disabled children and as a waitress at a local cafe, where she refined her social skills and developed a passion for baking.
Discovering the Secret World
Yuuko’s introduction to the occult began in the spring of 2012 after meeting an enigmatic physicist named Connar Green. Following a brief three-month relationship, Connar vanished abruptly, coinciding with a massive and highly suspicious attack on the Tokyo subway. Weeks later, an anonymous journal arrived in her mailbox detailing the history of a secret organization known as the Dragon. When centuries-old photographs fell from the journal's pages showing Connar virtually unchanged from 1850 through 1945, Yuuko’s worldview shattered.
She plunged into obsessive research, uncovering historical anomalies, mythological creatures, and the secret past of a magical Yakuza faction called the Korinto-kai, who manipulated probability to build an empire within the underworld. This relentless pursuit of the truth ultimately cost Yuuko her jobs, but it brought her directly to the doorstep of the secret world.
The Korinto-kai and the Dragon
Her research caught the attention of Daimon Kiyota, a mysterious figure who offered her a deal: one year of service to the Korinto-kai in exchange for the truth about the secret world and Connar's whereabouts. Yuuko accepted the dangerous contract, operating out of the Zeroes Wild Pachinko parlor in Kadin. Despite her small stature and lack of combat experience, she adapted quickly, utilizing a massive Third Age sniper rifle to navigate the infected streets and complete cryptic missions for Daimon.
Current Status
After her contract expired, Yuuko miraculously reunited with Connar during a desperate battle against infected deep ones in Ginpachi Park. Refusing to return to a normal life, she proved herself as a capable agent and stood alongside Connar and his allies in the fight against the cult known as Third Sunday. Today, Yuuko has relocated to Greenfield and serves as an archivist and Envoy for the Council of Venice's archives in Dublin, Ireland, utilizing her exceptional research skills to document the ongoing history of the Secret World.
